I purchased a set of stock style armrests for the driver and passenger door for my '40 Ford Deluxe Coupe from Bob Drake. They did not come with installation instructions, and my car did not have arm rests installed when I bought it. I am hoping someone could give me advice/instructions on how to install them. I think I figured out the "J" shaped bracket, but they also came with a large oval plate that has me puzzled. Bob Drake could not provide instructions. Any guidance someone can provide would really be appreciated as I am getting ready to redo the upholstery. Thank you in advance.

You'll note that the inner structure of your door has a slot in it to accept that J shaped brace. The oval piece... that simply is to reinforce the back of the door panel.

Hopefully your door panels have the holes already in them for the arm rests. Not an easy job locating the correct position if there are no holes.
