Topic: Fordor sedan dome light

Hey guys, I know this should be a paltry task of just taking this dome light apart and replacing the bulb but I have been struggling.

I have tried to unscrew the lens from the dome light body for a few weeks now. I tried using gloves, those jar grip rubber pads, even pool chalk to dry my hands. So I pulled the body out of the wood. It is now dangling from the ceiling. I will get it out and on the bench.

Now the real questions here is what are some suggestions to get it apart when it's on the Bench? Some strong penetrating oil and time? Is there a trick I'm missing?

Merry Christmas

Look around the parimeter of the glass lens and you will see a round wire ring that has to be removed before the lens will come off. Pry out one of the two ends of the ring.

40 coupe has the right answer. If you have a small tool like a dental pick or the tool to remove O rings it will help you get one end of the ring out of the light frame.
