Is there a way to tell if a 1932 Ford was born with a V-8 or a 4 cylinder?

Everything can be unbolted and replaced. I would go with the serial number on the frame. Of course even the frame can be replaced but then to me it would be a different car. The serial number starts with "star 18" for a V8 car amd "star AB" or "star B" for a 4 cylinder cars. After the initial prefix the V8 numbers ran 1 and up while the 4 cylinder numbers ran 5000001 and up. All numbers ended with a "star". I know you found your answer but another way to tell if you can't find the number on the frame is that the fuel line in the v8 ran up the left frame rail. On the 4 it ran up the right frame rail,
