Topic: 32 V8 oil pump replacement

Does anyone have experiance with using a later Melling oil pump in an original 32 V8 engine with the aluminum oil pan? What type of oil pickup assy is used or what modifications need to be made to the pan to accept this pump? Thanks

If you use the later 8BA type 80# pump, you have to use the 8RT-6615 pickup tube. It is a good idea to braze the tube to the mounting flange, as the swedged fit has been known to come loose. The later pump is shorter than the original, and no modification of the pan is usually necessary.
