On the early drs. side conduit is there a plug with a center hole for the distributor power feed wire to pass through as it enters from the firewall side? If so what material is it?

If I understand your question correctly, there is no plug or grommet on the back end of the left side spark plug wire conduit.

Thanks, if that is the case that wire could bounce around as the engine vibrates. Does the mid or late version have the plug? What if I make a plug & push it back in so it is not noticable?

You could do that IF it gives you peace of mind, I have run my 32 since 2003 (acquired) without doing such modification with NO issue, ALSO "IF" your concern was a wide spread issue, one would think that FORD would have made that modification many years ago and had a "service bulletin" issued with such a modification.....they did not. IF your motor vibrates to that degree, the placement/path of the wire you speak of is far from your issue of concern in my humble opinion. We also have 92 years worth of 32's still operating in "as built" form AND I have heard of no such issue related to your concern. This message was edited by Rockfla on 11-5-24 @ 8:12 AM

Contact Dennis Carpenter for the "Coil Wire Clip" which fits on the outside of the left ignition wire conduit. It is P.N. 48-10882 and is currently in stock. https://www.dennis-carpenter.com/product_search/?globalfilter%5Bcustom1%5D=Car&globalfilter%5Bcustom2%5D=1940&globalfilter%5Bcustom4%5D=&q=wire+clip+for+ignition+wire+conduit

Carcrazy 32 Fords did not use the clip you posted above. The coil wire runs into the rear opening of the left spark plug conduit and comes out its own designated hole near the distributor to connect to the post. See my attached photo, there is an opening for the wire just left of the last spark plug wire opening on the conduit.......SO IF the OP wants to stay original "As Henry built it" then your suggestion is Sac re blur. IF the OP in not concerned with "originality"? Then a very good suggestion to follow IF he is that concerned about the scenario he proposed.

Rockfla, from your pic the lower hole in my opinion is where the power wire exits toward the distributor connection with the round brass nut. The mid series has a crimped ring on the firewall side of the conduit to prevent a plug from going too far inward. If one were to place the wire into the hole near cyl. 5 , it would have to lay on the intake manifold or be twist tied to the conduit. I don,t think they were invented then. As well how would you get the wire outside the rubber tapered connecter sleeve.

RIght, the power wire to the coil comes out the 5th opening, I'm not following what you are saying on the rear "plug" and "ring connector" at the rear???

Or for the most "correct" engine bay as reference This message was edited by Rockfla on 11-5-24 @ 12:46 PM

nvjm, First, not all '32 V8 spark plug wires conduits have the crimp on the back end of the tube. It was added as a running change. Second, the wire to the distributor coil does not exit from the most forward hole in the side of the conduit, that hole is where the yellow wire to the generator cutout exists the conduit. Third, the red wire to the distributor coil exits at the very front of the conduit, outside of the rubber boot.

Gentlemen, they say s pic is worth 1,000 words Rockfla, I stand corrected. From your drs. side pic I now see where the yellow cut out wire goes. I also see a large cloth wire protector entering the spark plug conduit from the firewall end. I have both the plain end drs. side conduit as well as one with the crimped ring. Senior, which would be correct for an early series? I was speaking in generalities about any possible vibrations. I do understand that flat heads run very smoothly from prior experience. As I don,t have a complete car presently - only the engine & trans I,m at a disadvantage.I m thankfull for all comments.

From the picture of my engine compartment, this was taken at some point while doing assembly and or detail work, you will notice the ABSENCE of the temperature line clamps to the spark plug conduit.....They are currently installed!!!!

Robert, The clips that you likely used have neither a B or 18 part number prefix and even with the remote possibility that they are different because it's a Ford Werke chassis, I don't believe that you can find documentation justifying their use on a '32. Why? Because you have the temperature gauge probe located on the wrong side of the engine compartment and not attached to the right side radiator support rod as shown in the illustration fro the 1932 Service Bulletins, reproduced on page 19-4. The special little clips shown in the illustration are available from Third Gen Automotive.

Thank you David, another box checked on the short comings of having a "so called" professional restoration shop having do your work to the level of your own eye for detail, furthering my frustration IS I left your book with "said" shop as reference, and another reason why I am facing the "BIGGER" issue with the car that I am. I did acquire the correct clips from Michael BUT have unfortunately installed them on the left side. FORTUNATELY this situation will be remedied sooner than later AS I have to drain the coolant and send my temperature gauge out for cleaning and service, it will be corrected soon!!!
