I have an unrestored 32 V8 and have ongoing fuel pump failures. I rebuild them and they work for a while then if the car sits (like over winter in a heated garage), when I go to start it, no vacuum. I put another in and same thing happens. Are these supposed to be oiled? I'm about ready to put in an electric pump that I can take out for shows, etc, but this is driving me nuts!! Note, I may not have a 32 engine. One person told me that based on the draincock location, it might be a 34. I assume that matters? Any help? Thanks! No matter the vintage of the early engine block when it comes to the fuel pump. A photo of your pump would be helpful as between '32 and '34 there were four different fuel pumps used.
