With a mechanical water temperature gauge, either an original combination fuel/temperature gauge or a separate aftermarket gauge.

Since the 34 water pump does not have facility for a temperature bulb suggest changing the left pump to 35-36 pump which does have the facility.

Originally,a fitting made for that purpose was inserted into a hole cut into one of the upper radiator hoses.

One way to provide a source for measuring coolant temperature would be to install a heater hose connection as sold by Dennis Carpenter and others into one of the upper radiator hoses.
