How can i monitor the water temperature on a 1934 flathead V8?

With a mechanical water temperature gauge, either an original combination fuel/temperature gauge or a separate aftermarket gauge.

Since the 34 water pump does not have facility for a temperature bulb suggest changing the left pump to 35-36 pump which does have the facility.

Originally,a fitting made for that purpose was inserted into a hole cut into one of the upper radiator hoses.

One way to provide a source for measuring coolant temperature would be to install a heater hose connection as sold by Dennis Carpenter and others into one of the upper radiator hoses. You would then have to cut threads into the ID of the connector to provide a mount for your temperature sender.
