When I got my 32 model B, the coil was located on top of the engine. I know that is not correct as the new wiring harness has a short red wire from the column switch to the coil. Was the coil located under the dash and where was the bracket bolted to the dash or whatever?

The Model B coil was mounted on the inside of the firewall in a horizontal position in the upper right side immediately to the right of center to two clinch (D) nuts attached to all '32 firewalls. The top of the coil faces the right side of the car. The two clinch nuts show up pretty clearly in the photo below.
