Hi Guys, What's the easiest/quickest/best way to remove and install the bushing for the fuel pump pushrod in an assembled 59-AB V8? Can it be done without getting any chips/shavings/garbage in the engine? Does it have to be reamed to fit after installation? What should the clearance be? Hope someone can answer these questions for me. Thanks, Randy Moore

Their pretty sloppy even when new. Unless you know its worn through and theres a big hole in the wall I would leave it alone. omo ken ct.

Tom, Thanks for the link. I just thought that there was an awful lot of play when I put the pushrod in. The bushing looked okay, had uniform thickness all the way around, bushing seemed to be round and didn't look to be worn oblong at all. It just seemed to be really loose. It works fine, engine runs great. I don't hear any noises like it's flopping around in there. So, I guess I won't worry about it for now. Thanks for the replies, Randy

I would not replace the bushing, unless I was rebuilding the engine or had low oil pressure due to the bushing allowing the oil from the gallery to flow into the fuel pump rod area, reducing oil pressure. Most of them last long enough to make it to the time for a rebuild/ Tom
