gentlemen: I HOPE SOMEONE CAN SHED A LITTLE INFO ABOUT A PRE 1932 fLATHEAD EXPERIMENTAL BLOCK. here's WHAT I KNOW ABOUT IT. IT'S A l-HD V-8 3.5 IN BORE, 3 5/16 IN STROKE, 255 CUIN. IT' WATER COOLED AND HAS 3 MAINS. any HELP WOULD BE APPREICATED.

It is not as early as the X engines. To help you some -- this, as you say is an early prototype. The starter mounted above the fly wheel, instead of on the side. This engine was near the end of the development stage as the heads with the water pumps are about as close to production. There were some articles written about the early engines in Ford Life magazine. I am sorry but I don’t know which issue (but someone should add to this). I thought I had seen a story about the pre-production engines being stored in the Sugar Mill at Greenfield Village, but I know that they were part of the inventory reduction program that happened several years ago. But I could not find anything by searching the Index of the V-8 TIMES.

The engine is certainly a pre-production prototype. It has no water pumps. I will attach a picture of a 1928 prototype engine we have at the Speedway Motors Museum of American Speed in Lincoln, Nebraska. This is a very nice engine you have.
