Topic: 1942 Sedan A/C

Hi. I'm new on this forum and just purchased a nice 42 tudor sedan.
I was wondering if anyone has installed a/c in their car and if they have a preference on systems.
The car I purchased has a late model v-8 and a compressor on the engine so I was thinking of an under dash system.

Thanks in advance.

Does your sedan have a late model flathead or a much later model engine? Either way I would look at Vintage Air in Texas or Southern Air in South Carolina. Both have some nice under dash units that are made in the USA. I've put air in three old Fords and you will have to basically custom build your unit. If you decide to do this let me know and I can give some advice to hopefully help you avoid some pitfalls.

It's a much later model engine.
I assumed we would use under dash but this is my first car ever to have to install a/c on.
Thanks for any help

Robert, use the two suppliers I have mentioned. They have all the instructions and parts to begin your project. You will find that you may need to buy additional fittings for your hoses as you may need some 45 degree fittings. Check around your area for another car guy who has done air in an old car. Their experience will be very helpful in leading you through the project. It's not difficult, but a first timer should have some guidance. The toughest part is making up your hoses and finding someone to crimp them.
