Valve stem bent to one side after about month. seems like the tube is rotating within the tire. this is on a 51 ford using radial tires. What is the cause and is there a correction?? BUD

Seems to me that the tire is moving on the rim due to acceleration or quick stops. Tire movement would cause the tube to move with it. Could be too much lubricant when tires were mounted, or maybe improper tire size with not enough rim contact. I have radials on my '51 with no such problems, but I also run 35 lbs. pressure in tubeless tires. My tires are P205/75 R15 Gateway Premium tires that were on the car when I bought it a year ago. BT

Do you have radial tubes? There was quite a discussion on this problem over on the Ford Barn. I recently installed new bias plys and the tubes I got had to small a valve stem. They required a bushing over the stem to compensate. I understand this is a common fix.
