Topic: Gas pedal to Carb linkage.

I am trying to help a friend with a 40's Ford (not a 49) that has an 8-BA in it. The linkage from the gas pedal to the carburetor is a nightmare. He is running dual 94's. My question is: Has anyone changed their linkage over to a cable type system like that on the newer cars. If so, please give me some advice on how to do it and what you used. Thanks, John

If he used older carbs like 48 an back he could have connected the 2 carbs together on the drivers side and just shortend the firewall rod to the rear carb on the pass side. The linkage you install on pass side to connect together and operate the throttles are junk. Do it the right way and he will have no trouble. Also get a converted Chev, dist from Charlie NY if to want it to run right. ken ct. Stock Loadamatic dist don't work right on a dual setup.

It runs fine. Has a dual point mallory with mechanical advance. My question was about changing over to a modern cable style linkage. Thanks for your advice but not the direction I was looking for.

  Ken ct.
Sorry if my reply sounded a little harsh. It wasn't meant to be. I respect all the posts and advice you give and I'm sure your knowledge base is a lot better than mine.

John

John, that question may get a better response on the HAMB.
