I was out metal detecting the other day at an old farm house in barron wi. Pulled this out of the ground and just looking for a little background on it. Heavy copper... not even bent...

It looks to me like Model T or earlier. Try posting your question at http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=2

Yup -- looks like the main dash switch for a Model T.

Shawn, I have found some very rare and unique old car, truck and tractor items and parts while detecting on farms and around old homes. These two hobbies can sometimes work together .

It was the original Model T ignition switch plate mounted on the coil box of the Model T Ford 1908-1916.
The ho;e in the center was for the key/switch to tun it from the hot shot battery to magneto after hand cranking the Model T that did not have electric starting until 1919. I thought they were brass or at least heavily brass plated, now reproduced for restorers in solid brass.
It' an interesting piece with the Ford Motor Company Script, not to valuable in that condition, but fun to find.

1934 Ford's since 1972
