Hi everyone, today i get my restored 38 Ford pickup out the barn,(flathead V8, original 6 volt and 3 brush charger) it was a few months ago i start it for the last time. I charge the battery and start the car, the ammeter on the dash show that the charging is 10 amps or so.(6 volt system) I disconnected the battery and the car go running bad, is that normal ? (in my opinion the generator deliveres enough power to operate the engine ) when i connect the battery again the engine runs better. I have also another problem, the engine runs stationary fine, when i give throttle the engine run down, the engine didnt speed up. I cleaned the fule filter and the whole carb (stromberg 97)I inspected al holes on blockings in the carb, nothing to see. After theis i replaced the carb , the engine didnt start easy, after a couple starting it runs bur the problem is not fixed, when i give throttle the engine throttles and didnt speed up. Whats going on here ? Is there something wrong with the ignition ?

You probably didn't do a good job cleaning the carb for one and could be a weak fuel pump. But sounds like the carb is blocked up some where. Everything must come out of a Strom. to properly clean it out. Only thing that is not touched is the 2 small curved dump tubes never try to remove these. Did you remove and check the emultion tubes ?? ken ct. OMO being a rebuilder of carbs. 1-203-260-5945 cell if you need help.
