A fella has a 4 barrel manifold and made an adaptor to install a 94 type carb. w/a 4 bolt continentle base installed in place of the 3 bolt ford base. Will the unknown single or dual plane 4 barrel manifold work with a 2 barrel carb.????? ken ct.Going on a 239 51 ford pass car engine. HELP

Ken, You're the carburetor man, you should know that all a carburetor is required to do is to supply fuel and air to the engine as required. If his Rube Goldberg can do that, the engine will run. Poorly, but it will run.

Can you explain to me the diff in single plane and dual plane manifolds and will either work with either manifold ,that's all I need to know. yes I know carbs Alan but know zip about 4 barrel manifolds. ken ct

Ken, What I can tell you is that there were no four barrel carburetors or manifolds for Ford products represented by the EFV8CA. That's all I know, and that'th the troof.

Alan , I know that . He was running an after market 4 barrel manifold and wants to go back to a 2 barrel ford holley but dosent want to change out the 4 B. manifold so he made an adaptor to go from the 4 B. bolt patern to a 4 bolt 2 B. ford. Lincoln continentels had a 4 bolt base and its possible to mate it to an 8BA or later 94 type.. I'm not sure if you understand my ques. Will a 2 barrel carb work if he has a dual plane manifold ????????? ken ct.

A dual plane manifold will work with either carburetor. The question should be is "is the adapter distributing the fuel evenly?" It is impossible to determine this without the proper test equipment and a test that will cost way more than a new intake manifold.

This article explains the difference between a dual and single plane intake manifolds.

Thanks Tom for the site on DP vs SP manifolds. That's what I wanted in the first place. I have to talk this fella out of what he wants to do. Would be cheaper for him to buy a stock 8BA intake and sell the 4 barrel one.Dont also know what hes running for a dist. Thanks again. ken ct.
