Restoring a 1937. Looking for the mechanical brakes backer plates. I believe that the 37 and 38 brakes are identical. Does anyone out there have them or know who I could contact to buy them. Thanks.

Dave, congrats on your decision to go original. Yes, '37 & '38 are identical. Good luck and consider going with floaters and a dummy adjusting nut. The nut serves as a dust cover, and is removed to expose the star adjuster within. The nut itself being original, the conversion is undetectable on the Concourse, and makes a world of difference in operation. Alan

Thanks for the help. I have located all the parts and pieces to put the mechanical brakes back on the 37 except for one item. I am now looking for the rear cable retainers (clamps). If I have it correct these two brackets were riveted to the frame. Anyone have a direction to look for these. Thanks.

Cant help you with the rear cable retainers, but Roy Nacewicz does sell a great set of fake rivets (rivet head and threaded shaft and nut) when you get that far. If I understand you correctly, you are using a original 1937 frame, why wouldn't the rear cable retainers be there? When converting to hydraulic there would be no need to 'cut' those off.
