Topic: water in oil

I started my engine without realizing that it had no water in it. It ran for 3+ minutes and was stopped. After filling it with only water and starting it again I determined that water was in the oil (milky looking). I have drained the water and oil but need advice on next move. The oil came out with some small globs. Should I try stop leak or not?
I had seen a small amount of water in the oil once before and stop leak had solved the problem but there is more water this time.

If your engine has the small freeze plugs 2 on each pan rail , most likely 1 or more is rotted out. Common problem on those engines. I had same problem. Motor must come out to replace them. OMO. ken ct.

Hi....Starting and running your engine without water for only a short time shouldn't have any serious effects on it. But, I think you'd be better off finding the source of the leak and repairing or replacing it, rather than just adding more stop-leak. Cracked heads or block are serious problems, as are gaskets that are not sealed anymore. Water in the oil can seriously damage bearings, journals, and other critical engine parts. Find the leak source, and fix it. BT
