Topic: Oil pan baffle?

Have looked at two oil pans for my '35 and neither has a baffle. Am guessing that sloshing of the oil caused the tack welds to fail. Anyone aware of a source for baffles? Thanks!

I'm wondering how important they are....

I doubt that the sloshing of the oil caused the tack welds to fail. The baffles were probably broken out to accommodate a different oil pump.

I don't know where you could get new baffles, other than making your own.

I do not of a source but as Tom has suggested, it would be easy to fabricate.
I can tell you from a lot of personal experience, that baffle plays an essential role in your engines lubricating system. On a hard turn and / or up a steep hill, the oil WILL move away from the sump and the oiling system will starve. Even a momentary lack of oil is not something I'd suggest as prudent.
I have been called upon to replace these (missing) on a number of our old Fords through the years due to complaints of erratic oil pressure.
One must keep in mind if that baffle was not important ol' Henry would not have spent the extra .02ยข to install it.

Here's a good thread from the Ford Barn where they remove the baffle in the pan....
