Topic: Water Pump Installation

I am installing new water pumps on a '53 V-8 and have several questions: The new lower molded radiator hoses, part number 8BA-8286-B are approximately 9" long while the old hoses were approximately 6" long. Where should I cut them relative to the slight bend? Is the use of silicon spray recommended to get them to install on the radiator and pumps? What is the best way to line up the water pump mounting holes with the holes in the motor mounts? Thanks in advance for your advice.

I would check with your supplier on the hoses, it sounds like you have the wrong ones. Use a little vaseline or soapy water to slip them on. To align the mounts. unbolt them from the frame, bolt them to the pumps, then lower the engine back onto the frame. As I recall, the holes in the frame are large enough to allow the studs on the mount to slip in at an angle.
