Sounds like the new wiper arms do not have adequate spring tension for your installation. Sometimes one can shorten the spring to increase the tension .... depends on the design of the arm.

Often wipers are converted to a more modern style which prevents the original style from connecting. The more modern style sometimes do not work properly. Can you post a photo of your wiper arm and the connection to the wiper shaft? This message was edited by 40 Coupe on 5-19-16 @ 4:10 AM

I do think they are orginal style with the wire that goes through a hole in the shaft post.

Near correct, but for something attached to the cover. I can not see what it is from your photo. It should not be. The cover has a clip that spins on the upper end and that U shaped clip fits over the wiper shaft just behind the hole for the wiper arm. The spring is inside the cover and holds the cover in place and with the cover on the arm can not come off.

That is what mine looks like, but the spring just will not hold down to the glass when I go down the road. and when I trailer it at hwy speeds it blows off.
