The AGM batteries like the Optima are the best for the way we drive and keep our cars. Unfortunately, the Optima looks strange in the battery carrier and requires that you make your own hold down. Your other option is to place an Optima inside a 2LF case by cutting out the bottom and all of the dividers. Then you will have to modify a battery tray by lowering the area where the battery sits to accommodate the battery hold down. The companies that were making the reproduction batteries for the 39 Fords, no longer make the 2LF battery with the Optima inside and have also stopped making the wet cell battery also. Summit Racing still lists the wet cell battery, in a Ford script case, on it's web site. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/anp-2lf You may also find a wet cell battery that will fit at Farm and Fleet.
