Anyone know if the door hinge screws are suppose to be painted body color or cad plated?

I would agree. I have a low mileage 1941 Ford Special Deluse tudor which appears to be of July or Aug. 1941 production. I had it repainted in the origional Cayuga Blue color but did not have the door jams repainted & the screws on my car are painted. However, I was told by an elderly Ford parts man, now deceased, that Ford made more running changes in the 1941 Ford than any other model year prior or since. He said club judges are "full of it" when they get hung up with what is correct. Ford's number one priority was to get the cars down the assembly line, & use the parts they had which could vary from assembly plant to assembly plant. Early '41's could use left over 1940 parts if they would fit & late '41s could & often did use 1942 parts. I had my car judged at the Big Bear meet some 20 years ago & was deducted for a 1942 rear end assembley that had provision for a sway bar.Since my car had about 22,000 on it & previously belonged to "a little old lady", I didn't think the rear end had been replaced. That elderly parts man told me that Ford had 5 different rear end assemblies for 1941 including two with anti sway bar attachments. And her took me to the basement & he took me to the basement of Little Dearborn, Mpls, Minn. to show them to me. He also said Ford's Ford script tires represented only one third of their tire needs & assembly line workers woud take the next 4 tires available with no attempt to see that the tire brands matched. Sometimes Fords would come off the assembley line with 4 different brands of tires on it. So, I think the screws were painted as the doors were likely installed before they were painted. Tjhere is probably much that I don't know about the 1941 Ford but know they had 3 different styles of fenders, different dashes, etc. Later model Special Deluxe '41s had stanless steel metal around the windows to compete with the Special Deluxe Chevrolets but early '41's did not. Also, remember, America was gearing up for the War Effort prior to 12/7/41 & had to deal with parts & material shortages. My '41 had pot metal window winder shafts rather than steel. I had the right sid window regulators fall off because of this pot metal. Moral of this, members shouldn't get so hung up on what was "correct" as Henry wasn't all that concerned when they came off the assembly line.

Thanks for the great answers. I do have another question though. Am installing the grille. Does the fender welt go on the sides of the lower pan below the grille? I do know that it goes on the sides of the grille. Thanks again.

To my knowledge there is no welting between the lower pan(chin pan) and the grille.
