Topic: wing window 1946

Is it possible to change a 1947 door with friction held wing window to crank style from 1946 or earlier. These pictures of my door show a hole that I think is for the crank. Does anyone have pictures of the crank mechanism or where I might find them?

Think the Early Ford book says that crank vent windows were optional in '47. If so the basic door frame should be set-up for them Check it out.

Looking at the 1942 body parts book it appears that only the Super Deluxes had the crank out vent window. All others had the friction vent window holder. Based on your earlier post regarding windshield trim is it possible that you have a deluxe and not a super deluxe?

In any event from the parts book it would appear that you should be able to swap the crank holder for the friction one. Be aware though that there may be two types of crank assemblies. One for cars with steel doors and one for the station wagons with wood doors.

Thank you for your replies. Mine is a Super Deluxe but sometimes I think they made it from spare parts. Anyone know where to get a complete wing window with the crank style closure.
When I was a kid the cars and not just old Fords seemed to close tighter with the crank. That might have just been a perception.

My '42 - '48 Ford Service Bulletin Manual has a page showing the two vent window options, including part numbers, for '46 -'48 Fords. Advise if you would like a copy.
