Speedway offers this coil...why would a 12 volt system require a resistor, but not a 6 volt resistor? Pertronix 45011 Flame-Thrower II Ignition Coil, 6 Volt, 0.6 Ohm For a 6 volt system it does not require a resistor. If used with 12 volt point system it should have a 1 OHM resistor added.

The coil has sufficient internal resistance in the primary circuit for a 6 volt system, but not for a 12 volt system. Tom
