Does a 59AB require an adapter plate to house a crab distributor? Thanks!

Check your 59A, if the timing cover uses 2 bolts to retain the distributor then your good to go. All 59A,s came with a 2 bolt distributor.

The 42 -48 type distributors do not need an adapter when used on a 59A block with a stock camshaft. To use an earlier distributor you will need the 3 bolt timing gear cover and the adapter to extend the camshaft slot of the distributor. Ford change the design of the distributor for the post war cars due to problems with the crab design. Tom
