Can I use a 8 volt battery in my 1939 ford with a 1946 ford engine, 6 volt alternator and starter with out damaging anything?

Bongo - why do you want to use an 8V battery? Help us understand what is driving your thinking this may be necessary. Steve

To answer your question, It depends on what condition is making you want to use an 8 volt battery. High resistance connections can start a fire, so it is better to fix the problem, rather than add a band-aid to circumvent the symptoms. I do not recommend using an 8 volt battery. It is better to fix the electrical problems and use a 6 volt battery. Tom

Whatever problem you are having an 8 volt battery is not the answer.Let us know the problem or symptoms and we can help solve them and you can continue to use the 6 volt battery.
