anyone know which years are a direct replacement for 1936? I seem to recall that 35-40 are the same...

They will interchange, sort of. The crossmembers are different, the transmission mount area is different, the radiator mount area is different, etc, etc. Several visual things are different like x-member holes and body mount holes.
