Topic: Distributor Lubrication

  '42-'48 Shop Manual states to lubricate distributor pivot pins, outer rollers, governor plate and the inside of the breaker cam with a light film of petroleum jelly. There must be a better and more appropriate lubricant that you guys use than this. Appreciate your experience and advice.

  Speaking strictly for myself, I have been using Petroleum Jelly for distributor parts and many other things for over 65 years and never been disappointed with it. These days, I even use it in brake caliper slides.

  Back in the day, we used lubriplate. Petrouluem jelly might work just as well.

  65 years! - with that endorsement think I'll accept the petroleum jelly as the gospel and move on. Thanks guys.
