Getting ready to put dual exhaust on a 1951 Ford 4dr.Is it normal to have to make hole in cross mem ber on drivers side opposite passenger side to run tailpipe through? Thanks

mlevan, The reason there is no hole in the drivers side frame for '51 is that Ford did not equip cars for duals until 1953 when the '53 Conv. was the Indy pace car and Ford added them and produced the correct manifold for that purpose. So, it's do it yourself. Good Luck, Don

You can buy the later manifold for the driver's side that makes putting on duals a lot easier.

Contact Pat Rooney @ 1-216-389-6135, he makes the manifolds for the left side of dual setup. Great guy to deal with. Tell him I sent you. ken ct.

Hi....If you didn't know, Smithy glass packs are still available. Just bought and installed two for my '51 Coupe. They are identical in size, shape, color and graphics as the originals from years ago. Not as noisy as the steel packs, either. Nice mellow sound. BT
