Hello all. I have owned my '39 Tudor Deluxe for three years now and have benefitted immensely from all your advice in this forum. Here are some questions on spark plug wires: 1. Do I need new spark plug wires? If I touch the insulated portion of a wire with the engine idling, I get a pretty good jolt. The reproduction owners manual has an illustration of this being done as a check for spark (a bare hand on the insulated portion of the wire). This suggests that the insulation should be strong enough to allow this. 2. I have seen two different types advertised, copper core and carbon core. Is one preferred over the other? 3. Is there a recommended supplier? 4. Are there USA manufacturers? Thanks for you help. Larry

Larry, The copper wire core wires are needed for good performance. Narraganset wiring, Rhode Island wiring and Roy Nacewicz are all good sources for these parts. http://narragansettreproductions.com/ http://www.riwire.com/ http://www.fordscript.com/ford_bolts/products.html Tom

You can also purchase the authentic color-coded wires to duplicate the originals from MAC's Auto Parts.

Most of the V-8 parts vendors that advertise in the V-8 Times carry the correct wires.
