Just discovered my recently purchased '48 Mercury Eight is in need of the wire mesh that serves as the air filter in oil bath air filter. Any ideas? Tried C&G, Early Ford Store, MAC's, Drake, etc with no luck.

You can use Chore Boy pot scrubbers or just a very coarse copper wool. You can also convert your air cleaner to accept a paper filter or one of the K&N washable filters. Tom
