Hey guys, currently restoring a 1940 ford business coupe (street rod) and I am looking to hear some carpet options from yall. I'm using stock seats and as close to stock rear package tray as I can. The firewall is in the correct place, along with pedals, transmission tunnel is also very very close to stock. What are some nice cut and pile or loop carpet kits out there for these cars?

I don't know of any carpet kits for a 1940 Ford. You could just talk to your local upholstery shop and couls also ask the question on the HAMB.

The previous owner of my '47 coupe installed a light-grey uniform colored cut-pile carpet throughout the passenger compartment, probably because it was cheaper that a new rubber floor mat and quicker/easier to install. I dislike it and will go back to the stock black-colored mat. Carpet was stock on the rear floor and I will keep it there. In my building design/construction experience a loop carpet is cheaper to manufacture, harder to clean, will usually "show" wear patterns more quickly as the loop-tops are worn away, and when a loop carpet is flexed over the curved tranny hump it may show the backing material more readily. Carpet fabric, thickness and density varies widely, and that determines cost.
