Topic: 1937 Tin side crank seals

I am assembling a 1937 tinside 60 and would like a drawing or advice. The Vanpelt drawing is different from my engine in the rear. The Vanpelt drawing has rope like seals front and back. The rear seal on mine is different. Any ideas?

The oil seal at the rear of the crankshaft on the 1937 to 1939 Ford V8-60 engines does not have a rope seal like the 1940 V8-60. It has a slot that surrounds an oil slinger on the rear of the crankshaft. The rear main cap of this engine has a long drain tube to facilitate the passage of oil from the slinger back into the oil pan and not past the rear of the crankshaft and into the flywheel and clutch area.

Thanks for the input, it went together well but looks like it could leak
