Topic: '36 Ford oil/fuel gauge wiring

Just purchased a 1936 5 window coupe and am starting to replace all the original wiring, fabric wrapping falling apart. Have a question regarding the wiring of the oil/fuel gauge. diagrams show that the two gauges are connected at the top connection point, is that correct? And if so, is it with the wire going to the top of the oil gauge and then to the fuel gauge or with a metal strap? There was a broken metal strap on my original gauges and they still seemed to work. Although the strap was broken the two ends were touching. Thanks.

The metal strap was original, but it can be replaced by a jumper wire.

Thanks Dan, used a jumper wire.
