This is the second leaky NAPA master cylinder on our 38 coupe...they will refund my money,I need one that don't leak..called a restoration place in Va.that sleeves and rebuilds them..when I asked them if they were compatible with Dot 5 fluid..they said they wouldn't guarantee them...shouldn't be using Dot5..none of the new cars used it..Iv'e used it for years....Am I alone?

I use DOT 5 in both of my Club cars, but would not put it in either of my modern cars as they have "anti-lock" brakes. DOT 5 fluid should work just as well as DOT 3,4,and 5.1 as far as leaks go. My local parts house carries the Wagner re-manufactured master cylinder for the 39-48 cars and I have had good luck with those in the past. Tom

I just rebuilt mine on Thurs. The new kit was a little different then the old. The master was new 3 years ago and pedal got worse. I believe the rubber is not of good quality anymore and I will see how long this on works. The wife helped me bleed the last night and have a good hard petal now. Used Castro fluid 3-4. Got my rebuilt kit from Yesteryear Ford Parts in Mich.
