Topic: 1950 Ford Cust Convertible VIN location

Good evening, I was hoping one of your knowledgeable members would be able to assist. Is it true the VIN on a 1950 Ford car is stamped into the cowl/firewall? If so, do you know where? When I purchased my convertible the paint and body was already done and I believe (if stamped) they filled it when smoothing out the firewall. Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated. I've provided a picture of the firewall to assist.
Thank you - Steve

Yes. There are numbers stamped into the cowl below the seam.
There also should be a data plate with the VIN attached behind the passenger side hood hinge. This should start with 0BA- (for 1950)
The numbers stamped into the cowl will let you know the color, trim, the day, month and the number of unit produced on that day.

The actual VIN that is desired by the DMV is stamped on the frame. It is stamped on top of the angled crossbrace that runs from the right frame rail to the front crossmember just under the radiator. The number is approximately mid brace. It should match the number on the data plate.
