Does anyone out there know the correct stud arrangement for a 24 stud flathead V-8? I know there are three different lengths, but where are they located on the block?

Go to "the next ten discussions" on the Forum, and look at the topic: Stud layout.

Sorry, that was for a 21 Stud, but essentially, a 24 Stud has the same set-up. I don't have a diagram, but my original post would apply. Just put a head on a flat surface, and measure the depth of the stud boss holes. If you are going to run an oil filter, the left bank will have 3-studs that are just a tad longer to allow for the thickness of the mounting plate.

8 short studs (P/N 40-6065 2 11/32" long) go in the bottom row, 2 medium studs (P/N 40-6066) go in the next row up, numbers 11 and 14 in the torque sequence chart and the rest are the long studs (P/N 40-6067) Tom

Tom, your count is right on, but the torque diagram I have shows that the next row studs are 14 and 9 is this a problem?

Here is a link to the chart that I used. http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_cylinderhead_torque-specs.htm It appears that you have the 8BA chart and I was using the 24 stud chart as the 8BA used bolts instead of studs. I hope that I have cleared up the misunderstanding. Tom
