Topic: Resisters

Am doing some rewiring on my 46 flathead V8 coupe. Removed the old resister which was working fine. However, it is almost 70 years old, one corner is broken off, and the fiber board is badly warped. In the photos, it is pictured with the box metal cage.

The other pic is of the resister I am thinking of replacing it with. It is one of several high quality parts I bought from an elderly fellow club member who
is getting out of the hobby because of age and illness. It is clearly marked on the back, "46 Ford V8" and appears to be new and of high quality material.

Why the difference in design? Does anyone recognize it as perhaps for a 47 or 48 - and would it still be appropriate to use?

Thanks.

The resistor is to the left and the circuit breaker is to the right. Don't confuse the two.
