Topic: Truck Trans into car swap

I have a 1941 Ford sedan and the banjo rear end has a major problem. I'm heavily considering going to an open drive line. I'm wondering if a 46 to 48 Ford 1/2 ton open driveline, truck tranny would bolt in behind my stock 41 59AB engine. If so, what problems might I incur re: pressure plate, clutch choices, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To start with the truck R.E.will have 2 leaf springs going the wrong way,the tranny will bolt up will probably have to cut a drive shaft to fit might be easier to fix your problem.Cliff.

Switching from a known bad diff. to another unknown diff. and you could be doing a lot of work and wind up with something that needs repair anyway. Why not rebuild your diff? can change to the ratio you want and keep the rear stabilizer bar.

While the above is good advice, to answer your question; if you are talking of a 3 speed trans, the stuff in front of the trans is the same.
