Hi guys, Thanks for the suggestions previously of draining the old gas, fresh Mobil 91 octane and new ngk plugs. I did that and car started and ran much better. I stopped it after I got it to run fairly smooth w/o choking to check for any fuel leak. Turned out the fuel pump was leaking at top of diaphragm screws and perimeter of diaphragm. I dried it, tightened screws a little, and cranked it over with key off. Leaked again. I had trouble when rebuilding because kit diaphragm (from Mac's) must have shrunk after manufactured. Hole pattern was smaller than pattern on AC ford pump. So I elongated the holes about .050 so it would fit. Maybe that's the problem? I better get new pump. Where is best place to buy an American pump. Anyone have any good luck somewhere? Thanks, Jeff

We buy ours from C&G (800/266-0470. There are two versions, one with the glass bowl, 59A-9350, $59. Without the bowl, 11A-9350,$62. Many vendors are still selling pumps and kits without fuel-proof parts that have sat on the shelf too long. Most pumps come from foreign sources now, even for the current models.

PS 48 ford & Mercs used a glass bowl pump, mine are built with a paper filter installed and can be changed at any time from NAPA. ken ct.
