I use the rearmost intake bolt hole on rt side and foremost intake bolt hole on front left side. Course I have an "OBERG: lifting unit which is fully adjustable as to more or less pick up fore or aft. Picked it up at a swap meet yrs ago,not sure if there still made anymore. ken ct.

The exhaust manifold bolts are the best place to attach the chain to lift the engine. one at the front and one at the rear on both sides.

There is an engine lift plate that attaches to the block where the intake mounts. This is what Ford recommended.

We use a length of chain attached to a head stud on either side. I made it decades ago, and it still is the best I've seen. The bars welded at the ends of the chain must be drilled out to form pockets to give clearance so the head nuts and be be tightened down far enough to prevent stripping the threads.
