Topic: 36 running boards

I am about to install the boards on my early 36 with the square bolt holes in the frame. The question: does the head of the carriage bolt go inside or outside the frame?
Thanks

I believe if you look closely, there is no carriage bolt square hole on the running board, so the bolt head goes from the inside of the frame, and the nut is on the running board side. I think they did it that way so that they could tighten the nut, since some places along the frame where the board attaches, you would not be able to get a wrench in to tighten the nut.
