I'm putting my 37 up for the winter. Unheated garage Suggestions?

Lenny; You will get many suggestions here. I believe that the best one is to get yourself to a marine shop (boats) and get some Yamaha Yamalube Fuel Stabilizer and Conditioner. I have used this for 4 years and it really extends the life of your gas that you store in the tank. I also fill the tank and wiggle the car to try and remove any air in the tank. The Yamalube costs more than the others, but think about how boaters and snowmobilers store their gas equipment. I also like to jack up the vehicle to take the weight of the tires. I also remove the battery and charge it a couple of times during the winter season. I use Renuzit air freshener (pure breeze aroma) in the interior to keep the critters away. I have a quality cover that I cover the car with. This is what I do and I live in MN where the winter can be winter. Like I said, others have their favorite plans. I thought about a couple of other items -- if your vehicle needs an oil change, do that before storage. Including any grease fittings or oil caps. Nels suggestions are good ones to follow. A suggestion on the battery that I do is I fully charge it, remove the positive + cable and use a battery maintainer. This way I don't have to carry the battery into the house. By removing the cable any little battery drains in the car's wiring won't be draining the battery. The maintainer will not come on as much. I use Stabil Marine Formula in the gas. I hadn't heard of the Yamaha stuff. I live in Ohio where it gets cold but not quite as much as MN. In the Spring I turn on the electric fuel pump for a bit and my '41 starts right up.

Better keep an eye on those battery tenders,I had one on our 38 conv,didnt check it for a while...had a new FORD script battery on it when I checked it ,the battery was hot and boiled dry,refilled and charged but would never start the car..the tender didn't shut off..had to buy a new battery...the company said they would repair the tender if I would pay postage,but wouldn't replace my battery,I said no thanks

It is also a good practice to squirt some oil into the cylinders thru the spark plug hole, then turn the engine over to spread the oil. This will prevent the rust on the cylinder walls that occurs in damp areas due to condensation. I fill the gas tank and add some Stabil. A few times over the winter I turn the engine a bit by hand to lessen any valve spring "set" from long term compression. An Optima battery can stay in the car, but a lead/acid type is better in a warmer place.

One of our RG tech sessions suggested using the marine version of Stabil. I have recently discovered I can buy "leaded" ethanol free fuel locally, and have run that in my truck this summer. But like Super says, that ethanol free gas still is delivered in tanker trucks mostly carrying corn gas. I'll still stick some marine Stabil in there just to be on the safe side.

The Stabil Marine Formula is what is best for Ethanol in their line. I see there is a new Stabil product exclusively for Ethanol. It is in a smaller container and is green like Marine Formula. I wonder-has anyone used this stuff?

I leave the hood and trunk open,, glove box open and rear seat up and put mothballs all over the place, Mice like dark places.
