Topic: My vin number on Ford Deluxe 1940

  I have found my vin number for my ford deluxe 1940 four door. But i look at http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_serialnumbers.htm

it should be start 18-5,210,701 to 18-5,896,294. But my number is *57028I4*.Someone help me and explain to me.

  Well it looks like you have a correct serial number for a 1940 Ford only the guy stamping it seems to have forgotten his 18- stamp. If you still have the original transmission the number will appear on the top of the transmission just above the little inspection door. See if that has the 18-.

  Thanks a lot for your help, i check my transmission number and it same with serial number but start with *I8-57038I4*. So Vin number and Transmision number the same? Is there a way i can find owner for this car original? This car was found and rebuild now in VietNam. I beleive this is the only car avaiable in vietnam.

  Ford usually stamped the 18- prefix on the serial number located on the top of the LH frame rail near the steering box mount. Ford also stamped the number without the prefix at the top of the LH frame rail near the kick up for the rear axle.

  I agree with 42wagon that someone forgot to stamp the 18. There is no way to locate the original owner unless you have some old paperwork, which will give you a lead, and do some detective work on your own. Consider yourself lucky that the transmission number basically matches the frame number. That does not happen very often
