Topic: Deluxe or Standard

Is my 40 Convertible considered a Deluxe, Standard or could be either?

Trying to figure out what I have and what is missing?

The grill is a deluxe. The standard grill has vertical bars like the '39 deluxe. The are a lot of other differences but I don't know enough about the '40's to even start to list them. You should get a copy of the club's book to use as you work on the car. The book will save you a lot of money in the long run.

Thanks, But what book are you referring to? The one Kube is writing or something else?

This is the one that is available presently. Looking forward to the new one that Kube is working on.

I was referring to the one TonyM showed. It is available in the book section of this site, https://www.earlyfordv8.org/store-product-item.cfm?id=19&pid=2 I believe some of the suppliers also stock this book.

So am I to understand that all 40 Convertibles are a Deluxe?

Frank, ALL 1940 Convertible Club Coupes were deluxe. There are no records of any "standard" models being built as such - not even a prototype.

  Thanks

I thought so from all the aftermarket parts books photos but needed confirmation from the experts. I may be an expert mechanic and repair manual writer and publisher but I don't have a lot of knowledge about early model vehicles.

Thanks again
Frank
