Topic: Wide 5 rear drums

I had axle issues on '36 with '37 rear axle.
'39 hydraulic brakes

axles were obviously not tightened or loose on drums .
Beat the heck out of the axles, but when i look into drums, they look good. The ID looks good, no scorning , groves or anything unusual'

how do i tell if they are ok

don't want to do it again, but $ is an issue

place the hub in question on the end of a good axle with the key removed. press the hub on by hand and look to see how far it has gone on to the axle, and does it wobble. If there is a problem the hub will not go onto the axle far enough or it may wobble slightly. If there is minor miss fit you can place valve lapping grease on the end of the axle you want to install the hub to and rotate the hub (still no axle key) this can help fit the two together. Make sure to clean all the abrasive lapping grease off before final install.
