  Hello,

I'm trying to identify a Ford flathead that I just picked-up. It came out of a barn and no one knows what it was originally in.....I know that normally there are numbers cast into the top of the bell housing. I have none there....the only numbers that I have found so far as these:
Top of intake mounting surface, rear of engine: 12 - 5X

Left side, intake mounting surface, rear of engine: A Q *(star) 3 O(circle with a zero in it)

Right side, intake mounting surface, rear of engine: K ( also some other stamps that I can't make out)

Also has aluminum heads, Ford script and an HT cast in it on the right side....

I will post any other info as I delve deeper into this engine....

Any help will be much appreciated:
Thank you for your time,
Brian

You have not given enough information to identify the range of years that your engine would fit into.

Go to http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_home.htm

for help in identifying the engine.

from the markings on the heads it would appear to be 21 stud heads 1935. many of the markings on the block were put there by rebuilders, not ford. look for a part number on the heads such as 40-6050 the P/N may be embeded in the metal or embossed.
