Topic: 1941 Generator Rebuild

I am in the process of rebuilding a spare 6v generator - 2 brush 01A. All looks good inside except the front bearing. I have a new bearing coming - back bushing has already been replaced. Here is my question:

My generator does not have parts 10212 and 10122. These appear to be felt washers. I assume they are there to keep dust away from the front bearing. I can't find anybody who sells them.

Does anybody know where I can get them and if thy are useful to install?

The original bearing is sold with double rubber seals or metal shields. Suggest you use the rubber seal type and remove the felt. keep all the washers.

40 Coupe - Where can I get the type with rubber seals. My generator has the metal shields.

Go to a local bearing supply house (such as Bearing Distributors Inc. or Applied industrial Technology) and take the original bearing look at: NCH 6203 2NSE9C3 or KOYO 6203RS I believe the KOYO number is 2 rubber shields also can check at local NAPA and see if this bearing has the rubber shields: Balkamp 3-4100 or if it is offered through them with the rubber shields.
The shielded bearings are perminately lubed and require no oil. They require the washers that held the felt seals for proper spacing in the generator front housing.
