This is my question. after a new clutch/pressur plate/t/o barring/pilot barring was install on a 1948 v-8 the (ring) that the fly wheel bolts go in that attach to the fly wheel was left off. but the wire was use on the bolts.is this going to give me any trouble down the road? thanks for the help. son of 19"

As long as the correct bolts were used, and didn't "bottom out", you shouldn't have any problems if the bolts were secured. They are 7/16"-20 X 7/8. The dowels locate the flywheel, and the bolts secure it to the crank flange. As you have safety wired the bolts, I wouldn't worry about it.

Supereal's correct. The only function of "the ring" is to act like a collection of washers between the flywheel and the capscrews. If the capscrews were torqued correctly, and as you stated, the safety wire was installed, then you should be OK. It's not good practice to install cap-screws without a flat washer (or in this case a plate), but it should work.

Ok thanks"supereal/stroker I was a little worried about it. I did have a friend with me that worked on air plane motors and he wired it for me he said that was the way they did air plane motors he had a special way to route the wire.also I have to say after the tear down and replaceing everthing new with a bal clutch/pressur plate my ford runs and drive great. thanks for ever one's help. son of 19.
